10. Café Du Monde – Located in the French Quarter of New Orleans, I’ve got one word for you ….. Beignets!!!!
9. Chick Fil A – This is a favorite of our family. The chicken is a class above any other fast food restaurant. The “Second Mile Service” creates a fun environment. Not to mention, the milkshakes are incredible!
8. Sarah J’s – This seafood restaurant is in Murrells Inlet (near Myrtle Beach). The hushpuppies are worth the effort to find the restaurant. With a view of the ocean and a delicious tasting food, Sarah J’s is a must on our family’s menu when we go to Myrtle Beach.
7. Barberitos – This is a Southwest Grille. I like the grilled salad: steak, lettuce, rice, salsa, cucumbers and chipotle ranch dressing. Our family enjoys the chips and cheese sauce and …… the chocolate chip cookies.
6. Siblings – This is a southern style restaurant in Hartwell, Georgia. I am yet to have anything off the menu that is not delicious. My two favorites are the southern chicken w/ corn and green beans and the fried shrimp w/ corn and green beans. In case you can’t tell, the corn and green beans make any meal at Siblings gooooood. They also serve a delicious sweet potato bread and corn bread basket that comes with all meals. The bread is hot!
5. McIntosh Café – Located on the One-Way Street in Elberton, Georgia, this sandwich shop has become a favorite of mine over the last couple of years. They have an incredible breakfast menu from muffins to eggs, grits, bacon and toast. The sandwich options at lunch are all delicious. I started out always ordering the club sandwich on Nine Grain bread w/ chips and a pickle. My more recent lunch time order is the chicken salad wrap on wheat with pasta salad and sweet tea. They also have a sweet lineup of desserts.
4. Jason’s Deli – This sandwich shop is a chain restaurant. I was introduced to the Athens, Georgia. They have soups, salads, and sandwiches. My favorite, and singular order, is the chicken wrappini w/ chips and pickle. Jason’s Deli has a secret weapon for enticing the customer back …… self-serve ice cream cones and chocolate syrup!!
3. Longhorn Steakhouse – I absolutely love a good steak. I know there are some great steakhouses, but I am yet to find a place that gives me the quality I know I am going to get from a medium well Flo’s Filet at Longhorn. My order is always the same ….. Flo’s Filet medium well with a skewer of grilled shrimp, rice, house salad with Italian dressing and sweet tea. I rarely have room for dessert, but if I do I prefer the fried cheesecake with Raspberry sauce.
2. Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House – Located on Hwy 80 going to Tybee Island, Georgia, this is a delicious seafood restaurant. Uncle Bubba’s sister is Paula Dean. The portions are large and fried is the only way to go!
1. Inoko Japanese Steakhouse – This restaurant is on Alps Road in Athens, Georgia. For anyone who has ever been to a Japanese restaurant, you know that part of the experience is having the meal cooked in front of you and the chef’s performance. The onion ring volcano fire is, as my daughter puts it, “Cool!” My order will include steak and shrimp with rice and grilled vegetables.
